Quantity surveyor and their job role in construction field

A quantity surveyor is an individual who take responsibility on many parts of the construction work and they are the one who needs to access, analyze and survey the initial planning cost of the building construction and plan. It is the top level position to manage the work in the construction field. The position of the surveyor will differ from state to state, and region to region. They are usually, specialized in all fields like estimating the cost which includes material, labor, equipment, tools and so on. 

 
Duties and functions of quantity surveyor in construction filed:

a. cost Estimating

b. controlling the initial cost

c. Analyzing benefits and cost

d. management planning

e. Preparation of final accounts

g. Tax depreciation

Quantity surveyor has more responsibility in the construction field they typically take part in different job roles such as contractor, developer, the architect, sub contractors, the engineer and client.  They are the responsible for maintaining the initial cost of the materials, goods and for labor. They also help in maintaining the construction within the budget, which is one of the most common advantages of having the Quantity surveyor. 

Income of Quantity surveyor 

The opening salary for a non- experienced quantity surveyor starts from 25,000 USD - 38,000 USD per year. For a senior level, the salary starts from $37,000 and $75,000. Privately owned companies or partners of a company can earn more income when comparing with others.

Guidance and schooling

Quantity surveyors are the bachelor degree holders; some surveyors also have graduation on it. In order to become the best surveyor, after completing their graduation they have to attend the trainings and gathering new techniques in the surveying field.

Job Opportunities

The job opportunities for the surveyor are huge in most of the countries like India, UK, South Africa and so on. These are all the major countries that hire the quantity surveyors.

There are three categories of employers in quantity surveyors:

a. public sector: In this public sector the employee work in all types of government projects like  national buildings and other projects.

b. private sector: employee who works for a companies and industries

c. common contractors and developers: Some people have surveying section in their business that allows them to work as a Quantity surveyor staff.

Quantity surveyor has great job opportunity and their benefits and income are more competitive. And while hiring the QS make sure that the surveyor must be well train and educated in all aspects.
